Job Description:

Centerfire Feedyard is seeking a welder/equipment operator to join the team in Ulysses, Kansas. This welder and equipment operator role will be responsible for completing various feedyard maintenance projects.

 About the Position:

  • Operate equipment such as a skid loader, front end loader, and tractor scraper with proper safety licenses
  • Operate welding shop equipment to prepare components for torch welding
  • Clean/degrease and maintain the shop work area
  • Maintain and follow all Cactus Operating and OSHA Safety Guidelines
  • Assist the feedyard maintenance crew with other skilled trades to complete assigned tasks

Job Requirements:

  • Able to work in a team environment and able to execute self-directed assignments with little supervision
  • Able to work in elevated areas, in a variety of environmental conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.), climb stairs/ladders, sit, and stand for extended periods
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Exhibit regular and prompt attendance
  • Display strong communication skills (oral and written)


  • High school, GED, or completion of Technical or Trade School certificate (Preferred, but not required)
  • 1-2 years of Welding and Fabrication experience
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
