Job Description

The Feed Manager will work closely with the General Manager and Operations Manager to manage and lead the feed department at Ulysses Feedyard in Ulysses, Kansas. The Feed Manager’s responsibilities include monitoring cattle feed intake, quality control, employee relations, and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates accurate and consistent feed delivery
  • Collaborates with the nutritionist to assess feed quality and distribution
  • Maintains and monitors cattle feeding records
  • Develops departmental operating budgets and manages expenses
  • Ensures that all safety protocols and procedures are followed
  • Assists in creating a work schedule for the team

Qualifications:

  • Strong work ethic
  • Self-starter
  • Prior knowledge and experience in one or more of cattle production segments (cow-calf, stocker, cattle feeding) is preferred
  • Team-player
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Coachable and teachable

Requirements:  

  • Undergraduate degree (preferred) or 3-5 years of related agriculture experience
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to hire, manage and train production employees
  • Must be able to work every other weekend
  • Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively with feed team and others around the feedyard
